Singapore is the city that attains the position of one of the most favourite vacationer spot for tourists from all over the world. Singapore is a small diamond shaped island that lies in Southeast Asia. Located at the southern tip of Malaysian peninsula it is in very close vicinity of the equator. Singapore consist of about 58 smaller islets in Singapore territorial water and also the island of Singapore. Malaysia and Indonesia are the neighbour with Singapore in between. As it is 1 degree north of the equator the geographical location as well as influence of the sea effect the climatic condition of the country to a great extent. Therefore the city experience tropical climate and thus the weather here is generally hot and humid. But the climate doesn’t matter to visit this city as most of the buildings have been made air-cooled (to such extent that you might want to wear sweater even). The climate in June- August is unbeatably pleasant. Light weight cotton clothes or linen clothes are best for this season.

Abundant rainfall, high humidity and uniform temperature and pressure are the characteristic features of the climate here. No distinct seasons are experienced in Singapore. The weather here remains mostly cloudy and the average rainfall it receives is around 2,370 mm. The diurnal temperature ranges between approximately 30° C or 86° F during the day and 20° C or 68 °F in the evening throughout the year. Although the northeast monsoon (rainy season) falls during November to January but sudden or heavy showers are general. But these showers generally happen for a short period making the atmosphere the amusing one. Due to rain the temperature drop down making the climate cool and pleasant.

As it lies in the tropical zone Singapore faces heavy rainfall and always remains moist. The humidity in the climate generally ranges from 70 % – 80 %. The level of relative humidity remains highest in the early morning but the percent lows down to about 60% in the afternoon. May and June are the hottest while November and December are the wettest seasons. The eastern side of Singapore receives less rainfall as compared to the Western part as it falls under the rain shadow region. Thus the climate in eastern part is slighter hotter and dryer than the later one. Rainfall is more consistent during monsoon period. Singapore is bestowed with two monsoons. They are the Northeast Monsoon (Dec-March) and the Southwest Monsoon (June – Sept) other than two inter-monsoon periods ( April-May, Oct.- Nov). Rainstorm in November- Jan covers about 40% of this period. Singapore receives slightly higher amount of rainfall in summer season than in winter. Inspite of heavy rainfall there is lack of adequate water supply in Singapore and therefore water has to be imported from Malaysia. As Singapore is an insular island so it lacks fresh water.

The idyllic time to visit this place is June- August. For beach lovers Singapore is just the heaven. Its appealing to enjoy the hot sun at the beach wearing your cooling apparels and the hat. The place is an ideal location for sunbathing. Other than sunbath swimming, sailing and other water sports excites the people. Sudden and heavy rain are usually brief and refreshing. The charm of this unique destination appears to be the trivial.
